24 May 2nd Annual Take a Seat a Smashing Success
The 2nd annual IFDA NY Take a Seat charity auction event benefitting Habitat for Humanity took place at Room & Board in Soho last Thursday with a fabulous turn out of over 250 people thanks to the tireless efforts of Tamara Stephenson, Lisa Mc Mahon, Maureen Klein and the entire committee. Designer and tv personality Libby Langdon hosted the event with professional auctioneer Harrie E. Copeland III. Guests bid on 28 one-of-a kind chairs created by leading designers and artisans to a high energy crowd. The entire team from NYC&G was in attendance and the CEO of Habitat for Humanity spoke about the organization. Everything was beautiful – the chairs, the people and the venue!
I found this charming, small scale Windsor chair at Salvation Army for $15 and named it after my darling new nephew, Jack William.
With new caning, a modern finish and fabric the chair honors the joy of a little boy.
A special thank you goes out to Robert Allen fabrics and The Complete Window.
Save the date: October 1, 2014 for Take a Bow at AXOR. IFDA NY will be celebrating the New York chair designers and artisans while skyping with five other chapters (Philadelphia, Boca Raton, Scottsdale, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco) as they simultaneously kick off their Take a Seat events.
