It was such a pleasure to work with Rose! After living in our home for 25 years, it was time for a refresh. Initially I was thinking some paint, new area rugs and recovering some furniture. But as the project progressed, I decided I wanted to do more. Much more. Soon we were ripping out the central staircase for a custom design, reimagining the entryway, refinishing older pieces of furniture (which came out gorgeous!), updating bathrooms, hanging window treatments and sourcing lighting and then some.
As you can imagine this is not so easy for the designer and made planning difficult for her. But Rose’s sweet nature never flagged. She was patient, inventive and worked very hard to learn my taste and bring it to life. The results are just beautiful.
And she stands behind her work! I had a large custom dining room table made. Many months later, I noticed the leaf was not sitting exactly flush. I contacted Rose, sent her a photo, and the vendor made me a brand new table.

My wife and I have had the pleasure and experience of working with Rose over the last almost two years in helping us pick interior finishes and furnishings. A few years ago, I saw an article in the newspaper about a family whose cluttered home had been reorganized and redecorated by Rose Ott, an interior designer. Since my house was also cluttered and the furnishings were worn, I continued to read the article, and I discovered that this designer also worked with her own construction team. This “one-stop shopping” appealed to me, and I cut out the article and hung it on my refrigerator. When I finally decided that the time had come, I called Rose, and by the end of the day, we had spoken and arranged a date for our first appointment. The very first thing that appealed to me about Rose was her approachability, the ease of communication and her “can do” attitude. We are a household of three dogs, an unlimited collection of DVDs and little time in our lives to focus on a house. In April of 2006, Rose Ott came into my home for an interior design consultation as we were getting ready to renovate. As we began to discuss lighting, bathroom designs and all the things that required us knowing how to pull everything together for our home, we quickly realized that it was going to be an overwhelming process for two individuals who had full-time jobs and barely enough time to shop for all the supplies needed. Not to mention that we were really building two homes in one a parent/child home – which was not a simple task. During one of our crazy weekends while shopping for bathroom tiles someone recommended we give Rose Ott a call because it seemed like we needed help. While we hesitated because we really wanted to do this on our own and had real concerns of finding a person who would not be overwhelming, we knew that if we wanted everything to be perfect and for things to start moving along we needed to get some help. In the summer of 2006, I was chatting with a fellow LIRR commuter about my frustration and trepidation of even picking a color of paint for a wall. This wasn’t the first time that he had heard me talk about decorating. Whenever he would see me he would say, “So what have you done?” and I said, “Oh, nothing.” Not that ideas weren’t constantly going through my mind but having made mistakes before was too just too much. He said, “I told you, give Rose Ott a call – she’s amazing.” I finally took the plunge accepted the fact the fact that I needed help. Rose is poised, creative and exudes a sense of confidence and style, both personally and professionally. I remember being in a furniture store with her, showed her a couch and she said, “I see pink in that – do you really want this?” I thought she was crazy but if you look at it, in certain ways she was right.
